Spencer Clan!: December 2015

So about a month ago we took the kids into Lethbridge and got them a fish tank and they each bought their own fish and tank accessories for the tank. They were all super excited. We got the water tested and got the OK to put the fish in it. So we did. They did so good for about 2 weeks. Then I got home one day and walked in and it stunk so bad. The fish tank was all cloudy and DJ's fish was dead. Gross. We got it all cleaned out and found that their was a pile of fish food at the bottom on the tank and the air hose was not in the water. So we fixed that problem and told the kids they couldn't feed the fish whenever they felt like it. DJ was devastated that "Shadow" was dead. So we told him we'd get him another fish.

Well Shelly and Eric were going to Lethbridge and told us they'd get a fish for him. So I sent them with some money and DJ was pretty excited. They got back later that night with a beta fish. I was pretty sure that it couldn't be put in with the other fish. But Shelly kept telling me it'd be ok and she asked the guy at the store. So we put it in with the others. Things seemed to be OK.

Well it took all of a couple days when the kids were yelling and came screaming to me that DJ's fish was blowing up and chasing the other fish around the tank. So I went and looked and sure enough he'd blow his face out and his fins went sticking out too. It looked like it was just ramming into the other fish. I was thinking it'd be ok and they just had to get used to each other.

The kids were more upset about it and many fights were caused when the girls kept telling DJ that his fish was a bully. DJ didn't like that and would get mad. Kind of comical when you think about it! Ha ha! Well I came home from the bus on a Friday and DJ's fish (I think he named it Ninja) was not in the tank. I looked around and found that the girls took it out and put it in a bowl by the sink. DJ was OK with that.

Then the next day, Brianna's fish died. Sheesh we are not good with fish......at all. So I need to get her another one too. I grabbed a cheap fish bowl from Walmart and set it up in DJ's room with Ninja. He thinks it's great that he can watch the fish while he goes to sleep. It's actually worked out ok. Sheesh, such fish drama at our house. So that's our fish stories!!

We've had some fun things that we've gone too for Christmas. So I thought I'd just do a little list and add pictures of each thing. I love this time of year!! Here we go!

1. Magrath Old Time Christmas - This was last Thursday night. We almost forgot about it, but my kids came home and reminded me all about it. The nice thing about it this year was we weren't freezing....at all. It was so nice out. I loved it!! Ha ha! The kids wanted to see Santa to begin with so that's where we headed. We stood in line for a bit but we visited with everyone in line so it made time go by fast!! Then we wondered around and checked out the different booths. It was a fun evening!!

2. 6th Ward Christmas Party! - We had this on Friday evening. We got there and found a table and visited with people. The kids had fun running around with other kids. Then it was time to eat. After we ate and had dessert it was time for the program. The kids went and got dressed up and were on the stage for the whole program. I was so impressed. All the kids did so well. They stood there so quietly and then when it was time for them to sing they did amazing. It was a very nice program. Then it was time to go home. I loved it. Not too long......but just right!!

3. Setting up the train track around the Christmas Tree. DJ decided that he needed to set up his train around the tree. So he did that on Saturday. Brianna helped him. Then they had fun playing with it and loading it with candy canes!!

4. Ice Skating - I mentioned this in the last post. But now I have a few pictures!! DJ hasn`t gone back to skate yet. But I think he will eventually. I went and took picture of my girls skating around. Cadence cracks me up. She just shuffles around everywhere. Ha ha! I love it!!

5. Decorating Ginger Bread Houses - So we did that this week. The kids were super excited and we did it for FHE! We always get two houses and divide the kids up to decorate. They always have fun. I notice that they take the task more seriously now and are very careful in how they decorate it. They want it to look really nice!! They all did a great job!

6. Christmas decorations around the house. I just love taking pictures of the lights and different decorations around the house!!

7. Dressing up Brownie! - I found a Santa suit for a puppy and a reindeer one too. We had fun putting them on Brownie. It was hilarious. When I was putting the Santa suit on him he fell over on his side and stuck his feet up in the air. It was so funny. He wouldn`t stand up! Ha ha!

8. Making chocolates with the Paxman`s!!! This is turning into a yearly tradition for all us sister`s to get together at mom`s and make chocolates. I`m loving this tradition. We got together last week and made the fondants. Then yesterday we came to do all the dipping. I ended up bringing my kids. They were huge helps and I`m so happy I brought them. They helped dip and helped keep the little kids happy and entertained. Love that my kids are so helpful!! We finished in record time and Megan brought us pizza for dinner.
