I am way behind in posting but a few things have happened and I HAD to write them down before I forgot. We have been so busy this summer having so much fun. Of course my kids say the funniest things sometimes that just crack me up. Here are a few of them:
1. We were having FHE the other night about some of the changes in our schedules with school coming up. I was making a list of the things that need to be done in the morning before they went to school. Brianna spoke up and said, "We need to brush our teeth, so they don't stink." Right at that moment Macy (our dog) walked by her and did a silent, but stinky, fart. Well the look on her face was priceless. She jumped up and yelled, "EEWWW, my teeth stink really bad." Before I could say anything she ran to the bathroom and brushed her teeth. Well Abbi just about fell off her chair she was laughing so hard. She thought it was hilarious. Brianna then came back and sat down then said, "Oh my teeth still stink." We stopped her and explained what happened. But I don't think she really believed us. Because the next morning after she brushed her teeth she told me, "Mom my teeth were so stinky last night." I told her it was Macy and she had a funny look on her face and said, "OOOHHHH." So funny!
2. Abbi has gotten into the bad habit this summer to hiss at me when she's mad. Yup you heard right, she puts her hands up (like a kitty) and hisses at me. It was funny the first few times, but then not so much after that. She would do it wherever we were. But she no longer does that, thank goodness!
3. DJ is starting to say a few words, which is nice. He loves going to speech and does so well with the speech therapist. I have to really work with him at home because he'll say words at speech and he comes home and does his grunts and signs and gets what he wants. So I have to be more diligent in having him say his words. Anyways one night we were getting the kids ready for bed and they were brushing their teeth. I grabbed DJ's toothbrush and put toothpaste on it and handed it to him. He started getting mad and said, "UUHHH MOM, AH VRRMMMM, UUHHHH LALALA." Yes he yelled it at me. Now to translate, he was saying no mom I want the cars toothpaste not the princess toothpaste. I accidentally put the wrong toothpaste on. He calls everything girly, lalala, which means princess. Too funny! He was pretty disgusted with me.
4. Cadence has her certain clothes that she loves. She always cracks me up with to wear. Most of the time I let her be, because who really cares, as long as she's happy! Last week I had to take her and DJ to the doctors. Cadence had put on DJ's shorts, they were green and blue plaid shorts, and her cowboy shirt, which was pink and black stripes. It was quite the outfit. I was in the hurry and I was going to make her change her shorts, but forgot. Oh on top of that she went and put about 3 or 4 (can't remember how many) big bows in her hair and clipped one on the front of her shirt. That's her thing right now, a bow or flower bow clipped on her shirt. Oh I forgot, she also had a hair elastic on her wrist with 2 flower bows clipped on that. So, yeah, she was quite the sight. She totally cracks me up with the things she wears! We got to the doctor and I wanted him to check her right ear. She had swimmers ear and I had treated it for a week. Well I ended up holding her down so he could check her ear. By the time we were done the doctor asked Cadence, "Are you always a handful for your mom?" Cadence replied with a huge smile on her face, "Yes I am."! It cracked me up! The poor girl still had swimmers ear. It's now been two weeks, I'm kind of scared to go get her checked again, hopefully it's better now. Sheesh! Oh all the nurses complimented Cadence on her outfit. She was pretty happy.
5. Sometime this summer (can't remember when!), I took the kids to the post office to grab the mail. Usually I just run it and get it but they all wanted to so I let them. Well we got in there, and we were the only ones there. They all started fighting over who got to open the box and hold the mail. So I just did it. They were all screaming and the girls were hitting each other.....yeah it was a little crazy, all over mail! Sheesh! All of the sudden there was this voice that loudly said, "Did you know that Santa is watching you all year round. You better be good for your mom, or Santa won't visit your house." Something to that effect. Well my kids all froze and just stood there listening. Then they looked at me with these shocked faces. It worked though, they stopped fighting and were no longer screaming! They kept asking me who that was. I kept telling them it must of been one of Santa's helpers. They were dumbfounded! It was so cute. Want to say THANK-YOU to Santa's helper!
6. Brianna has had a few sleep walking episodes lately. The other day she woke up with both hands bright blue. It was the weirdest thing ever. She couldn't figure out how it happened and neither could I. An hour later I was cleaning the kitchen and opened one of my cupboard doors and solved the mystery. There was a blue food dye upside down in the cupboard and blue dye everywhere. Hence, why we couldn't wash it off her hands. I asked her if she remembered doing it and she said no. I always wondered who was going to take after their father in the sleep walking department. That answers our questions....Brianna! It was kind of bizarre!
So those are a few of the things that I could remember. Sorry no pictures this time. I promise to do more posts on what we've been up to.

Fun Times In The Summer!
The summer is FLYING by way too fast. We've been so busy this summer and we've been having tons of fun! So I thought I'd do a list, with pictures, of what we've been up too!
BOWLBY REUNION
This was the beginning part of July. They had it at the Magrath Stake Campground, which was very convenient for us. So away we went. It started in the morning but my little DJ was not having the best day. I made an appointment for him and we went to the reunion after lunch. Then I left the girls there and ran to Raymond with DJ. Sure enough he had a double ear infection, poor boy. He's scheduled in Sept for tubes again. So that will be good. Then we came back and he got to play a little too. The girls had a blast playing with their cousins (2nd cousins). It was a great way for them to get to know each other. Of course, the big water slide was a hit too! Then we had a dinner and did lots of visiting. There was a silent auction too and the girls were all excited to come home with something, oh DJ too! It was a blast. A big thanks to Tina and Dawn, you guys did lots of work and it was a great day!
Abbi was the first one brave enough to try this huge, man made, water slide! |
Then Cadence went. I took the picture just as she tensed out and was about to freak out. She didn't cry though, but she cringed and had a funny look on her face! She did go again though! |
Brianna loved it. She had a blast going again and again! |
Here's Brianna in a train with her cousins. They did this over and over. They loved it! |
I talked my girls into going with me. We flew down, and got soaked by the time we hit the bottom. My feet are too big and made the water splash up into my face! |
Relaxing and getting warm with Grandma Spencer. Dallin, and his SIL, Marrissa with her baby Bryanna. |
DJ wasn't a fan of the big water slide so he had fun with this. It entertained him for awhile. This was after the doctor's appointment and with some pain medication in him....makes a big difference! |
BACKYARD FUN
We've had some hot days this year and it's been great. On those days we've gotten out our pools and sprinklers. When that happens my girls run around to all the houses in our neighbourhood to invite their friends over. They've had lots of fun with their neighbourhood friends! I've had to make a rule that they have to come tell me where they're going first, before they run off. One time I was in folding clothes and noticed it was all quiet. Went to look outside and all my kids were gone. Started looking and found them at the end of the street getting their friend, Lilly. Good thing we live in a small town. My kids have never had neighbours with small kids before, so they think this is great!
Love this picture of my kids. They were having fun running around playing and I told them to get together for a picture and this is what they did! |
DJ running around in the rain (you can't tell but it was raining)! |
Cadence and Abbi singing and dancing in the rain! |
My girls with 2 of their friends playing in the rain! |
Abbi going into our little pool with our little slide. Of course we can't help but get muddy because we still don't have grass...oh well! |
Everyone playing and having fun. Don't you love our back yard!! It'll be done one day. But we do love how big it is, it's great! |
MAGRATH DAYS
So the Saturday before we took off to Little Bow for a week happened to be Magrath Days. Richard worked HARD the whole day so he could go on holidays. Sounds like last year, oh well! I told him he had to come next year! We went to the parade first. I forgot my camera, so no pictures. But the kids had fun waving and yelling hi so people could throw candy to them! My mom and Cam came over and watched with us. Then we came back home and had lunch together. Afterwards the kids and I had to go to the church to clean. July was our month to clean all the entry ways and foyers. After we cleaned we went to the party at the park. The kids loved the petting zoo and the jumpy, slide thingys!
It was hot and they wanted to swim. So we ran home to get their swimsuits on and came back. I was able to sit there and watch while they all swam and had a good time. Then we went over to where they had the stage. The kids wanted to sit right up front. So we did, front and center. It was LOUD! But they loved dancing to the music and actually sat there really good. We got free beef on a bun with a bottle of water. So that was our supper. Then we came home and they all went to bed so good for me! It was a fun day, even though we did miss having Richard with us.
Brianna jumping in the bouncy house! |
Abbi just came flying down the slide. |
Cadence jumping and having fun. |
DJ had a blast in there. That is after I forced him in! Mean mom, but we didn't wait in line for 30mins for him not to go in. Once he was in he had a blast! |
I was so impressed that Cadence went up to this pig all by herself and petted it. She is getting much braver around animals! |
Love the look on Cadence's face, so cute! |
Brianna holding the rabbit. |
DJ insisted on holding the rabbit. I was quite impressed that he actually held it by himself. He was so proud of himself! |
The other cute little rabbit that Abbi got somehow! |
Brianna just came down the huge slide. |
Abbi coming down the big slide. |
Cadence coming down the big slide. |
Brianna, Abbi and Cadence listening to the music while DJ and I stood in the big line to get our free beef on a bun. |

DJ, Cadence and Abbi watching the performers on the stage. |
CALGARY TRIP
I decided one morning that we'd go to Calgary to play with Lisa's kids and because Eric and Shelley took Kyle, Ella and Declan there too. So we hurried and packed and away we went. I stopped at Walmart to get a few things and bought the new movie, Rio. Best buy ever, they all sat there and watched the movie so good. It made the trip so easy! We got there and met everyone at Chaparral Lake. It was a beautiful day and the kids had a blast playing in the sand and water. The best part was we were right beside a playground too. So they had a blast. After we went back to Brian and Lisa's and had beef on a bun for supper. The kids had fun playing with their cousins. Cadence had a little mishap though. She was riding Jazzi's scooter and fell off and landed on her forehead on the pathway. The poor girl had a huge bump with road rash on it. She was miserable after that. So we packed up and drove the 10 mins to Cody and Emily's. We spent the night there. The girls were excited to have a sleepover at Ali's house!
In the morning we went to a park. They played for a bit. DJ was acting so weird, was crying over EVERYTHING. Drive me crazy. We then decided to go to the mall so Cadence could get her ears pierced (that's another post!), and have lunch. So we did that and had fun. Then we dropped Emily and the girls off and headed for home. It was a fun little trip!
Jasmine, Abbi and Brianna playing in the sand together. |
DJ swam in the water for a long time. He had a blast! My little cool dude! |
All the Spencer grandkids (missing Spence, who was born a week later). |
Brianna and Cadence at the playground. |
There is Cadence's big bump on her forehead. Poor girl:( |

UNCLE BRENT THE COP!
The day that we were coming home from Calgary I had to stop in at our rental place on the west side in Lethbridge. Oh this was after our little incident at the gas station in Claresholm. Oh my, that was a little crazy. Between all the kids having to pee and someone was in the lady's bathroom so I checked the men's (no stalls just a little room with toilet and sink) and it was empty. So I had all the kids go in there, much to a lady's disgust (she was waiting in line before us). She gave me quite the look and I just laughed at her! Anyways that was done, except DJ refused to go. The kids all got a treat and we went out to the burb, where I had filled it with gas. DJ then started SCREAMING and telling m he had to pee. So I left the girls in the burb and ran back in. He went and had to switch his treat to something else (sheesh). Came out and buckled him in and then opened the back door to get drinks for everyone. Well this same lady that was in the store happened to be behind me at the gas pump. She stepped out of her car and very rudely said, "Please move, as you can see I'm boxed in and can't leave till you do." (she was not happy). Anyways I looked and replied, "Well you'll just have to wait a little bit longer, I'm just about ready to go." She got back in her car and shut the door. I was so annoyed. It wasn't like I purposely blocked her in, because she's the one that pulled in after me. But whatever, I finished what I was doing and then we left.
Anyways, got to the rental and had to pick up the mower to take back to Coaldale to get fixed. What a royal pain. I dropped it off, and by that time I was at my wits end with screaming kids! I had a thought to call Brent who works for the Lethbridge Police but is stationed in Coaldale. He was excited and told me to bring the kids to the station, which is the fire station. So we went and the kids were excited to see him in uniform and in his car. We always talk about Uncle Brent being a cop but they've never seen him as one. So that was exciting to them. He let them sit in the car with him and he turned on the lights. Then he took us into the station to see the fire trucks. Oh boy, talk about DJ about jumping out of his skin, he was so EXCITED. He was jumping and screaming and pulling on Uncle Brent's hand toward the biggest fire truck. He was in heaven. He kept yelling, "MORE VRRMMMM". So cute! The girls loved it too. They got to climb in every truck and check it out. It was a lot of fun. Thanks Uncle Brent you are the BEST!!!
I just realized that my quick list turned into a LONG one! Oh well, that kind of catches me up a little bit. I still have a few more posts to do. It's crazy how busy we have been. It's been a lot of fun!
They finally all got in! This is after he showed them how the computer works, and that the rifle is locked above his head and won't fall out! |
Uncle Brent with his nieces and nephew! |
Uncle Brent showing them some of the things at the back of the fire truck. As you can see they were all very fascinated! |
Cadence, DJ, Abbi and Brianna on the fire truck! |
Checking out the fireman's hat. They sure had fun! |

Camping at Little Bow!
We did it and survived one week of camping at Little Bow Provincial Park. We left last Sunday after church and came home late Saturday afternoon. So we were gone for 7 days and 6 nights. It was a lot of fun! I seriously have over 150 pictures that I took. So there are going to be a LOT of pictures.
SUNDAY, July 24
We went to church, then came home and changed. I doubled checked the trailer (we stayed up late packing and getting things ready), and added a few more things. Then we headed out. Richard took his truck into Lethbridge and left it at UFA(he came back home and worked Tues and Wed). We picked him up and kept going. It was really hot out and our burb's AC decided not to work.....bummer. It worked off and on, and then nothing. So much for trying to keep DJ awake! He zonked when it got so hot in there. Oh well! Good thing for lots of windows! I rolled them down and kept going. We pulled in and got a camping spot. We couldn't get one beside the others, but we weren't too far away. We got all set up and I made supper. Then we went for a walk/ bike ride. The kids brought their bikes and spent a LOT of time riding around everywhere! We had us some smores and then I put the kids to bed and went to bed myself. I had a super bad headache (my Sunday headache) and was ready to die! Not really, but I couldn't keep my eyes open much longer, so I crashed.
MONDAY, July 25, 2011
The kids surprised me and we slept in till 8am. So nice. After breakfast we packed up a lunch and got everything and went out to the boat. We had that boat loaded to the hilt. Then we all got in. Well I got on the tube with 3 little girls and we got pulled out to the beach! It was fun times. They loved it, we all sang the ABC song a few times till we got to the beach! Then we all played and relaxed. I got a few skis in and so did Brent. The 2nd time I went it was like glass. I love to slalom when it is so smooth. We then headed back in and found Cam and his girls waiting for us at the dock. It was my day to make supper so we hurried back to the trailer so I could start. I decided to make tinfoil dinners. We cooked them in the fire pit and they turned out delicious. It was a fun, fun day! My girls were exhausted and didn't take long to go to sleep! That night we got a really crazy thunderstorm and then it rained like crazy. So I wasn't too surprised to wake up Tuesday morning to rain.
Tuesday July 26, 2011
This was kind of a BLAH day! It was cool and rainy on and off all day. We took the kids to the park and let them play. Let them ride their bikes around. I think they had a fun time playing with each other, it just wasn't that fun as an adult! Oh well! We did survive. Oh I should mention that Richard and my dad got up early this morning and went back home. They both had to work. So I was definitely missing my hubby too! Brent and Tiff made supper for us. It was hamburgers and hot dogs and was very yummy! I was so ready for the kids to go to bed that night. I went and showered them all down, and got them clean. Then put them to bed. Luckily they all fell asleep quickly. Then I sat down outside and read my book!
Wed, July 27, 2011
We woke up Wednesday morning and it was still a little cloudy out and raining a tiny bit. But we could see blue skies. So we decided to go out anyway. We took the chance and were so glad we did! It was a tiny bit cool but it warmed up the longer we stayed out. We got out there around 10:30am and stayed till 4pm. The clouds started to get really dark and we decided to pack it in before we got rained on. The kids had so much fun playing in the sand and going for tube rides. Brent, Tiff, DJ and I went for a little cruise on the boat. DJ absolutely LOVED the boat and always wanted to go on it. He became Uncle Brent's little buddy! So cute! We found a place in the lake where it was like glass. So Brent got some wakeboarding in and I skiied all the way back to the beach! It was fun, but I didn't think my hands were going to let me make it back! But I did! That night Emily had dinner ready for us and it was so yummy! Oh I should say that Richard was waiting for us at the trailer when we got back from boating. So that was a great surprise! After supper we took our family back to our camp and made a fire for smores. Our kids were so tired. They really wanted to roast marshmellows so we did that. Then we got them ready for bed and they went to sleep.
Thurs, July 28, 2011
We got up and ready to go first thing in the morning and Richard and I took our kids to the park. We promised the night before so we went. Then we packed up and went out on the boat again. We were pretty lucky each day in getting "our beach"! We were usually out there by 10:30am. Oh, Megan came right as we were leaving. So it was perfect timing! It was nice out and we decided to get some skiing it before the water got choppy. The kids had a tube ride first. They were so funny. You could hear them laughing and screaming. They'd start yelling, "Crazy Uncle Brent, go crazy." So Brent would do some turns to get them out of the wake. Then they'd yell, "Crazier then that Uncle Brent." It was so funny! Then Brent, Tiff, Cam and Megan went out and did some wakeboarding. Tiff didn't wakeboard, but she drove the boat! When they came back I was ready to ski. I got out there and was ready to get pulled up when Mom yelled out that I still had my sunglasses on. It was too late, so I said oh well. Anyways got up and dropped my ski and away I went. There were a lot of boats out there. I cut the wake and splashed myself right in the face. Not a big deal but with glasses on I was blinded for a few seconds. In those seconds I hit a HUGE wave that I wasn't expecting. To say I crashed is an understatement. I bit it big time. I landed face first, oh and I tried to grab my glasses so I ended up hitting myself in the face too! I laid there and couldn't move. I was trying to breath and I think I freaked Megan out, because she jumped in to save me! I got the wind knocked out of me and was trying really hard to catch my breath! Sheesh it was a crazy wipeout!
That night mom made us all supper. It was also Brent's birthday. So we had lasagna (his favorite), with ceasar salad and garlic bread. Yummy! Dad came out after work, so he was there too. We then sang happy birthday to Brent and everyone pretended to blow out candles (we forgot them)! We're glad you had a HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRENT!!!!
Friday, July 29, 2011
Mom and dad left for home the night before. Cam and his girls packed up in the morning and were out of there by 9:30am. The rest of us got ready and went back out on the boat. We all decided to get our skiing right away. So we did. Good thing, because it got very windy out and the water was choppy. It was still a relaxing day on the beach. Aunt Tiff taught the kids how to properly make a sand castle. It was so cute. Abbi came up and told me that Aunt Tiff is so smart, why aren't you smart like her mom?! It was pretty funny! They had so much fun playing with Aunt Tiff! Friday night we just combined food and had roasted hotdogs over the fire. The kids loved it. I should also mention, that every morning and evening the kids would ride their bikes EVERYWHERE. That's the best part about Little Bow, you can ride your bike anywhere you want. They loved it. DJ even rode his trike everywhere. So that made for some very tired kids at the end of the day. We were outside all day long!
I had promised everyone that I would stay up late with them, since this was our last night. I always went to bed around 10 or 10:30pm (which is late for me)! Cody came after work and brought their baby monitor. That way Richard and I were both able to go up to their site. We just sat around the fire and talked and laughed a lot! We roasted some steak and some yummy marshmellows to make s'mores! I stayed up till midnight! I went to leave and ended up tripping over a tent stake and went flying and crashed. Yup, that's what happens when I stay up too late. We were laughing so hard. I'm sure we were pretty loud! Fun times!
Sat, July 30, 2011
We were planning on leaving first thing in the morning, but decided to go on out on the boat one last time. We did pack up our stuff and hooked up the trailer. We got everything ready and just left it there. Then we went out on the boat. It was crazy how many boats were out. It was too windy and choppy to do anything on the water, but we still had fun! We then headed in around 3pm and we all headed for home. It was so much fun and I'm glad we went. The kids had a blast and still talk about it!
So there is my super long post on our week in Little Bow. I was sad that I didn't get any pictures of the girls riding their bikes everywhere because they did that a lot! There were a few crashes too. Abbi was a maniac on her bike. She'd FLY so fast and then slam on her brakes. That girl scared me a few times. Anyways we had fun in the sun!!!!
DJ did a face plant into the sand off of the blow up alligator. It was so funny. I ran for the camera and took a picture before I helped him. He was not very impressed with me! |
Emily brought this dingy and the kids loved it! They'd take turns paddling and going places. I should say, us adults took turns too! |
Here's a picture of our "beach scene"! We all brought books that we read too, so nice to relax! |

DJ didn't actually go for the ride but everyone else did and had a blast! |
Loved this picture of Brent and Tiff. Brent was so good with all the kids, with taking them for tube rides. |

Brianna loved to play in the sand. |
Cadence loved drinking all the pop she could! |
Cute Abbi! |
We had fun playing badminton. |
Richard came back Wed afternoon with 3 more big umbrellas. So now we had an umbrella city with lots of shade! |
I took DJ and Cadence out in the dingy for a little ride! |
DJ and Cadence working together to blow up the alligator! |
DJ fell asleep again. I think it was all the sun and fresh air, wore him right out. This time he just went and layed down on the blanket by himself and went to sleep! |
Abbi and Cadence playing with their cousins Anna and Bella. |
DJ all geared up with his helmet and knee pads (he insisted) to ride up to the other camp site! |
DJ brought his backpack full of toys. He got Mary and they both sat down and played for a while. So cute to watch. Those two play so good together. |

Fun times!
Me getting ready to ski. The water was always freezing when you first got in it! |
I'm up and ready to drop a ski. |
I dd it! Ha ha! Megan took the best picture ever of me slaloming! |
Here was our main boat driver of the week! |
One of our favorite things to do was drive out in the middle of the lake and all jump in. Here's Richard, who was the brave one that jumped first. |
Megan jumped in and I lowered DJ down to her. He wasn't very happy with me! |
Aunt Tiff showing Abbi and DJ how to make a good sand castle. |
Brianna went to try one by herself after watching her Aunt. |
Cadence got these glasses because she jumped in the lake from the boat all by herself. I may of bribed her, and this is what she picked out! |
DJ had fun playing in the sand and water. |
Abbi loved making sand castles and was getting so good at it! |

Finished packing everything up and we're ready to drive down to the dock! |
My 3 cute little girls! |
We promised them a popsicle and this was the cheapest one the store had....$10 later. Oh well, they all loved it! Makes for a cute picture! |

Our family picture just before we left Little Bow! It was some fun times! |
Cutest picture ever of these 4 little girls! Ali, Abbi, Cadence and Brianna sure had fun playing together all week. |
Cousins! |
And this is what happens when you party all week and then drive home in HOT weather and the A/C stops working....all the kids fall asleep! |
