Sad

Today we went to church like normal and had a crazy sacrament meeting, which is normal too. For primary we were practicing our primary presentation and noticed a lot of kids missing and a few leaders. I asked someone and their answer broke my heart. There was a car accident last night and 4 teenagers died. There were 2 boys and 2 girls in the car. Such a sad, sad thing. I had a hard time keeping the tears in. It just breaks my heart thinking of what those 4 families are going through. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

I can't stop thinking of this tragedy of 4 young lives ending. I found a talk on lds.org from a 1992 Conferance. It was Russell M. Nelson talk on "Doors of Death". It was so good. I just wanted to share a paragraph from that talk.

Life does not begin with birth, nor does it end with death. Prior to our birth, we dwelled as spirit children with our Father in Heaven. There we eagerly anticipated the possibility of coming to earth and obtaining a physical body. Knowingly we wanted the risks of mortality, which would allow the exercise of agency and accountability. “This life [was to become] a probationary state; a time to prepare to meet God.” (Alma 12:24.) But we regarded the returning home as the best part of that long-awaited trip, just as we do now. Before embarking on any journey, we like to have some assurance of a round-trip ticket. Returning from earth to life in our heavenly home requires passage through—and not around—the doors of death. We were born to die, and we die to live. (See 2 Cor. 6:9.) As seedlings of God, we barely blossom on earth; we fully flower in heaven.

What a comfort it is to know that there is more to life then what we see here on earth. I pray for those families that they can feel comforted during this difficult time. I just want to hold my kids and husband closer to me. It makes me want to strive to do better in all aspects of my life.
