DJ's Baptism!

DJ had his interview with the Bishop on a Friday afternoon. I told him and he went and got all dressed up in his Sunday clothes. It was so cute. He was a little nervous about saying the wrong answers. I told him to just answer the way he feels and what he believes in. So he did. He did great. Then I went in with him and filled out the paper work. We agreed on Sunday, November 27th at 6pm for his baptism.

To say he was excited is  bit of an understatement. We had a FHE lesson on why we get baptized and we answered any questions he had. Plus DJ and his dad practised a few times, so DJ would know what to expect.

So after church we came straight home and had supper. Then we got ready and went back to the church. We got some things set up and then Richard and DJ went to go change. Everyone started to arrive. DJ and his dad came out and we went and took a few pictures of them together and all of us. He was pretty happy.

Then we went to go into the room where everyone was and DJ refused. He was too embarrassed to go in dressed differently then everyone else. The bishop came out and talked to DJ and finally said, that there's no rule about when they get baptized. Would he want to be baptized right now and then have the talks afterwards. DJ agreed. So he and his dad went and waited behind the curtains while we had the opening song and prayer. Then they opened up the curtain and Richard walked down and held his hand out for DJ. He took a step in and then jumped out. It was way too hot. So while they were putting cold water in, we sang a few songs together. Then he was in the water with his dad. He was then baptized. He came out wiping his eyes and smiling so big. I went back so I was standing by the stairs when he came up. I hugged him and told him I was so proud of him. He smiled so big!

Then the program went as planned after that. DJ had asked his Grandpa Spencer to give the talk on baptism and his Grandpa Paxman talked on the Holy Ghost. They both did a great job and DJ sat up front between me and his dad. He listened and answered any questions they asked him. Then it was time for his confirmation. It was  an amazing blessing. The Spirit was so strong in the room. It was the perfect baptism.

After the closing prayer we had everyone go to another room for some yummy refreshments. Everyone brought some squares and we had that with ice cream. It was fun to visit with everyone and watch DJ play with his cousins. He had a lot of support from family. It was the perfect evening.

These two boys love each other so much. So cute!!!
